LAUCHING OF ENVIRONMENT CLUB AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AMONGST YOUTHS OF DIFFERENT INSTITUTION

           In order to educate and inspire youths and children on environmental commitments and responsibilities, the Green Volunteer Team and the Tunza Eco-Generation Ambassador organized an environmental club launching ceremony in three different schools in the suburbs of Yaounde Cameroon on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of July 2014. This launching was response from calls by staffs and authorities of this institution to drilled their pupils and students on youth environmental training and empowerment based on the objective set by Samsung and UNEP. These responses came as a result of the wonderful volunteer work of Tunza Eco-Generation regional ambassador in that part of the country. This wonderful event took place in three different settings involving pupils and students of different institutions.
            It was an exciting and colourful event attended by many who received training from the green volunteer team based on the values and objective of Tunza Eco-Generation environmental platform. We in lighting and empowered the participants with the responsibility to engage in nature protection, encourage them to use news feats to pressurize the government to take important action toward environmental protection, conservation and protection.
            Furthermore, the event was characterized with an action plan of green ways to better the lives of the participants and the planet through these environmental initiatives. We equally put heads together and designed the green school campaign. The program?s goal is to give all schools across the country a green make over within one generation through our activities.
            Finally, we shared eco-friendly gifts, flyers, rulers, booklets from Samsung to the participants to make green changes in their lives. The event was equally spiced by a quiz and a debate on climate change.
            To conclude, the Tunza Eco-Generation environmental networking platform for children and youth being patronized by Samsung Engineering and the United Nation Environmental Program, UNEP gives hope to the future of our environment. We will like to inform Tunza that ?the harvest is much but the labourers are few? thus we will need more resources and ambassadors to reach out to more youths and children especially to remote parts of the country. Again, because of technological challenges, many of the youths are unable to visit the website. The way forward is that such initiatives should be more intensified through monitoring and evaluation. We would be happy if the activities of Tunza can be fully run in Cameroon through an office to help monitor long term initiatives.

Tomatoes From The Green House-From Vision to Mission-It is Harvest Time

First crop of tomatoes from Happy Farms Greenhouse  Cameroon

   In 2008, I had a vision - A vision to impact the lives of millions of Cameroonians by 2018.
I had as mission to use a bottom-up approach to create sustainable solutions and business models that will engage and enable the bottom pyramid to become self sustainable.
I had as objective to create cross linkages between Universities, corporations and communities at home and abroad.
The goal was to transfer knowledge and technology solutions that could be adapted for our local communities in Cameroon.
I had the conviction that a solution that works in Cameroon will work in most of West Africa and why not Africa. There’s a reason they say, “Cameroon is Africa in miniature”.

In 2009, I came up with the first solution –but, I was told that it was a good solution but I could not deploy that solution in Cameroon.
From Green to red to Money .

In 2010, I found a second solution. I engaged a team and we traveled to Cameroon for testing and market penetration. But, we faced a lot of cultural, administrative and market barriers.
In 2011, I took time off to reflect on my solutions and my agenda for Cameroon. I decided to get back into corporate America. But soon realized that corporate America wasn't for me, again, and I wasn't about the American dream but the African dream. The dream that someday, Africa will feed Africa and the rest of the world: hunger and poverty will become topics of the history books.
In 2012, I went back to the fields. I lived and mingled with the people. I needed to understand the foundation of the problems they face. I got a local team along with my teams of foreign students to comb through the community and find clues about the magnitude of the problems and the voids that exist. Later that year, I stumbled upon a diamond in the rough – it was a tentative solution to the crisis.
In 2013, the solution was deployed and then developed for our local community. The solution was the “affordable greenhouse’ locally known as the ”HAPPY FARMS’ greenhouse. We built one and planted our first batch of tomatoes.
After 2months and 3 weeks we are harvesting….. harvesting what we call “organic tomatoes”. We’ve proven that greenhouses work: enable plants to grow faster; grow organically; conserves the environment; yield better products; and have a very encouraging return on investment for all parties involved.

In 2014, we are going to the market. We are going to make these HAPPY products available to all and make us all HAPPY again. We hope to change the nature of the markets and their content.
We are just getting started but already getting closer to our goals and vision. I hope to get your feedback when you taste of any of the “HAPPY FARMS” products.
Thank you to the entire team here in Mbengwi and around the world..

WORLD BIODIVERSITY DAY CELEBRATION AT THE MT. CAMEROON BIOLOGICAL EL-DORADO:THREATENED

Most  of  Cameroon's biological el-dorados have been threatened and majority of the flora and fauna are facing extinction that is why i decided to celebrate this day with the future generation at the MT.Cameroon biological el-dorado.Giving them a brief lecture in this park   was important for them to understand some terms.Biological diversity refers to the variety of all plants,animals and micro-organisms their genetic make up, habitats and ecological processes on the earth.Cameroon is an el-dorado of biological species which are usefull  to mankind  as a source of material,a genetic resource which can contribute to the  improvement of breeds and to the development of biotechnology,i explained.I made the children to understand their role in the ecosystem and their importance to man and made them see the need for protection and conservation since most of Cameroon's biological diversity in fast disapearing.It is  now recognised that  the rate of extinction which has accelerated over the years,constituted a loss of our NATURAL CAPITAL and thus a threat to human survival.The rate of extinction in Cameroon is still unknow but it is estimated to be high due to high level of poaching,habitat loss upon which species depend.large scale conversion of primary forest due to agricultural expansion,logging,constrution works,pressure to meet up firewood requirements,forest fires particularly in grassland areas play a great role.Also,hunting ivory,skins and other animal parts is a form of business and livelyhood reported within the country national park areas and also from cross border poachhers attacts.we ended by making the children understand how they can take part in this figth and also behave well in park areas not to leave negative impacts like throwing pastics and destroying habitats.The results of this biodiversity day leisure trip were fruitfull for most of the youths were never aware of the day or even care to know about  this threats.Thanks to Tunza Eco-generationg,UNEP and SAMSUNG  this wonderfull iniative.

The Happy House Farms Business Model-Green House in Cameroon

Green house Farming  in Cameroon
The HAPPY FARMS BUSINESS MODEL

Like my President, I do believe that Cameroon will become an emerging economy by 2035. But I have a greater conviction that if/when the vision of the GreenHouse Center is being realized, Cameroon will attain emergence years before 2035.
The GreenHouse Center, Cameroon has developed a business model in which all Cameroonians whether at home and abroad will now have the unique opportunity to make positive and incremental returns on their investments. All you need to do is acquire one of our greenhouse and we will do the rest while assuring you with positive returns at the end of every harvest.
This will have a tremendous impact in creating employment and investment opportunities; transitioning into green agriculture while promoting a green economy. Most importantly, it will be pivotal in lifting impoverished communities to a higher standards of living.
This is how you can get involved:

THE DIASPORAN
Problem:

You are so far away from home and not sure how you can make a good investment back home;
You are tired of sending money back home and cannot get any accountability on it;
You have bought land and nothing is being done on it since you are not there to carry out the work;
Your land at home has become a source of constant conflict since it is not being developed. The land is being chopped off the administration, neighbours and family. You are not sure of how much will be left when you return home;
You have a relative back at home who is dependent on you and despite your investments nothing concrete seems to be realized;
You need to have an investment back at home so you don’t have to keep transferring funds across borders. You lose a lot in transfer fees and poor exchange rates;

You are looking for a way to give back and there has never been a way to do so;
You want to have a business back in Cameroon but you are worried about the inefficiencies of our administrative and operational frameworks. You do not plan moving back anytime soon and have been worrying about how to get started;
You have built home(s) and not sure when you will make the returns on your investment. On the average, it takes at least 15 years before you break even on real estate investments in Cameroon. Life and success is never guaranteed and you wish time went by faster than it is…

Forest & their Biological Wealth(defforestation)

Hello to all ambassador.I visited a romote village in the NorthWest region of Cameroon and discovered defforestation of forest and vegetation throug the use of bushfire was still a major farming technique.A native told me "the entire forest is usually cleared with fire throug shifting cultivation,bush fallow,or forest fallow ".I wanted to know why the forest clearence is an uncontrollable issue ?And i realised there is high rates of forest conversion for traditional agriculture(slash and burn),pasture for cattles,over harvesting of fuel wood and wasteful and unsustainable commercial logging.The problem of forest depletion in most of this villages is no longer a debate.Indications concerning forest degradation is the loss of biomass occuring at a significant high rate.At the end of my observation i conclude there is a need for conservation,for forest and their biological wealth are natural assets that protect the soil from erosion and represent home to millions of species,plant life and help moderate climate

The Future is Green(Presenting thoughts on climate change)

Hello to all Amaassadors.Yes,climate change is not all doom and gloom. Everyday i meet fresh faces and fresh thoughts about how climate change has affected their local communities.Their views and thoughs on climate change are really amazing! This really tells what they see of the changes and the future.With every minute of global inaction towards combating global warmingClimate change has taken the center stage of increasing the pains and plights of women and children in Camerom and the Word.This children cannot afford to be silent,their voices must be heard.Thanks to the Tunza Eco-generation Envirmental networking plaform for youths and children for "every candle matters".

MY ENVIRONMENT MY RESPONSIBILITY

     Hello to all ambassadors and warm greetings from Cameroun. It was a cold Tuesday morning of April and I had an appointment with the students of FRANKLINE SECONDARY SCHOOL, YAOUNDE, it was a talk titled, MY ENVIRONMENT , MY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY .

I was with a few members of the green volunteer team and started by introducing myself and unveiling the objectives of TUNZA and telling them about this wonderful environmental networking platform by the UNEP and Samsung company to empower children and youths about their environment, problems affecting it and how they can take action. I made them to understand that we out to create awareness, impact, network and take action on our local communities.

I did a 30minutes interactive talk on global environmentalism, climate change with focus on the vulnerability of Cameroun by using local examples of climate variability and agriculture. Where most local farmer because of uncertainty in rainful, cannot know when to plant their crops resulting in poor harvest. Since most of agriculture is rainfed .I ended with the way forward by talking about adaptation and mitigation and how they can take action at their local level.

    The conversation was so interesting and what made me happy is that most of them were not current but curious to learn and create an impact in their local communities. They were so interested to take immediate action and so i quickly link them to the tunza website.

The teachers and staffs ask that I should create an environmental club in this institution and pass time and again to monitor it. I would like to thank the ECO-GENERATION TEAM for this wonderful opportunity full of fun, advocacy and positive impact.

This initiative is one of its kind, after the interactive talk there was immediate breakthrough on how this youths perceive their environment through my evaluation survey analysis and most importantly they were anxious to jion the newly form environmental club which a long term impact to continue this fight . Our environment is our social responsibility. Ambassador AZIEH EDWIN, YAOUNDE .CAMEROON.

MY SAMSUNG ECO-GENERATION SCHOOL CLASSES

      Hello to all Ambassadors and please have fun with me and my pupils. After watching the SAMSUNG SCHOOL learning toolkit, I though of a crazy ideas to empower kids around my neighborhood. Though it was a difficult to put these children together, I succeeded to form a small ECO-FRIENDLY SCHOOL in honor of the EARTH. This initiative was 4 times a week within the month of May and last class in the mid of April consisting of evaluation

These kids are on holidays for the EASTER break but we all know GOD loves nature too as often said by PROPHET T B JOSHUA .So their parents did not hesitate to accept my proposal of having private EARTH AWARENESS classes with them in my SAMSUNG ECO-SCHOOL which I intended to empower and engage them with the objectives of Tunza Eco-generation initiative consisting of basic resourceful knowledge about their   precious environment on topics like air, land,water, ecosystem and climate change.

Today is my last SAMSUNG ECO-SCHOOL initiative and the weather is friendly and I decided to hold it under the Tree which seems ridiculous. But because the TUNZA initiative is natural, practical and worthy and full of natural fun it makes me relaxed .i am delighted and feel fulfill for I could see a GREEN FUTURE on the faces of these kids  who are anxious to gain new resourceful ideas and get engage in a global fight for sustainability?s was impressed about their activities at home and their local communities for the past mouth. They talk mostly on how they reuse their waste, containers ,plastics  ,planting of flowers  and keeping clean and other items such as drinking  bottles. Their ignorance about basic environmental issues was eliminated by smiling faces of advocacy after acquiring memorable knowledge about their environs from the Samsung eco- school initiative.

During this last class I equally did an assessment Quiz to see weather their role and commitment to the environment was felt and understood and the results were awesome awarded prices compose some of the Samsung schools to best pupils. I had lots of FUN answering silly interesting and meanifull questions.

I would like to thank the ECO-GENERATION TEAM for these wonderful initiatives, yes, indeed the future is green and these kids are ready to launch a GREEN REVOLUTION in Cameroon and the World .They also want to learn about the major technologies and innovations that will change the way we live. I am SAMSUNG ECO -SCHOOL teacher initiative reporting from Cameroon and will like to take this initiative to remote  rural  areas of my country  through the support of TUNZA.AMBASSADOR AZIEH EDWIN A.YAOUNDE,CAMEROON.
